It is no secret that public education lacks funding.
This doesn’t just mean fewer school supplies and lower teacher salaries, but big program cuts as well. Music and drama have taken heavy hits over the last 10 years.
However, the slack is being picked up by community members who are passionate about arts education.
Take Center For The Arts in Pittsboro. It is home to many arts resources, including programs for kids and adults.
The Sweet Bee Theater in the back of the Sweet Bee Cafe hosts many productions throughout the year and is accompanied by music rooms available for private lessons.
With the influx in population and surge or growth in the Chatham area, the theater is expecting to host even more community arts events in the upcoming year.
